51. Painted Orchids: Slide Show

Orchids: "Mysterious."
Probably that is the word we often hear about orchids. I feel the same way when I look at them so closely to paint. I need to study every hair :), every curve, and every hidden corner to depict the whole plant accurately. The little nature's wonder amazes me all the time.

For a while, I have been painting orchids species mostly rare ones, along with my documentation of native plants of prairies and woods in Midwestern USA. With this collection, I keep most paintings in 22x30 inches. I incorporate enlarged image very often, which gives the delicate botanical art stronger wall impact.

Enjoy the slide show!
