61. Heeyoung Kim: New Works - Solo Exhibition at Joel Oppenheimer Gallery. Jul 25 - Sep 7, 2019
Summer is an exciting season to little wildflowers, bugs and insects, and to me, as well. This blog, www.heeyoungkim.com, has recently reached 100K page views. Considering that I am not a super savvy tech person, reaching 100K page views is more than enough to put me over the moon. Another exciting event this summer is my 4th solo exhibition, at Joel Oppenheimer gallery.
Most orchid species are rare and intriguing everywhere in the world. Charmed by their elusiveness and elegance I have been painting them whenever I come across with an opportunity. Some are bold and colorful, others are dainty and darling. Sometimes I try bold and experimental composition, some other times I just need a whimsical play with their complexity.
From July 25 to September 7, a collection of my orchid paintings and other native plants of Midwestern USA will be exhibited at Joel Oppenheimer gallery, at Tree Studio, (10 E Ohio St., Chicago, IL). The gallery visitors can view other natural history arts by renowned masters from the past including John James Audubon, Pierre-Joseph Redoute, Dr. Robert Thornton to name a few.
I appreciate the gallery for the beautiful opening reception. Of course, I am utterly grateful for the support from my family, friends, students and gallery staffs.
